I use a lot of acidophilus fluid and eat yogurt. However, I recently saw Kashi cereal with probiotics. Also, I bought a very expensive bottle of pills by Nature's Way called Optima Primadophilus who claims to have 35 billion cfu power of 14 strains of probiotics. However, I thought that a culture of moisture needed to develop and survive. I would appreciate any input, advice and direction of education. I bought the bottle and I'm taking the pills to be on the safe side, but sometimes I worry that I'm just being a sucker for false claims. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, you're right … Crops Probiotics need moisture to reproduce, survive and prosper. However, in capsules, are not active, so no need moisture. The easiest way I've found to relate that is they are like in suspended animation. Once they reach a body fluid (or other liquid), are activated and begin to do their job. That is the reason need not be in a liquid form. For a company to advertise on your bottle a probiotic that has a certain number of CFU (forming units colony) or "viable organisms", they must demonstrate an in vitro system (which is basically a simulation digestive tract) that would do that. Everything says, many people prefer capsules or liquid / yogurt options … that is a personal choice.
