probiotics for pets
Probiotics for cats?

Who here uses a probiotic supplement separate their cats? My vet gave me samples to try and I was intrested because I use them for myself. What are good brands, why you use them, what you perceive the advantages (or disadvantages) are your pet?

I've used but I can not continue with them. Poppy has a history loose stools. Every day of his life for 2 years. The weather cleared a bit when I spent a good canned food, but it was still not perfect, so I tried probiotics. Unfortunately I took something of a hammer to approach him, and he gave him some gas so I stopped. Then last October when I saw my new vet, she advised me on how to provide adequately. Once I started to do more problems. Although the transition to a better brand of canned even then almost cleared first its problems, I thought I would keep using it until the bottle is gone. So that is why I can not continue with her – her digestive problems were nearly solved by better nutrition. Unless you give too much too often and it upsets the system Kitty, I do not see any disadvantages to them. The benefits would obviously be improved digestion and exit, so to speak. From my blog: Probiotics: Jarrow Pet Dophilus (powder) (http://www.cheapvitamins.com/Product/Pet-Dophilus-2oz.aspx?gclid=CPm3-8Sxo5EC …) UAS Labs DDS Probioplus (caps) (http://www. evitamins.com / Product.asp? pid = 1695) Vitamin Shoppe Ultimate 10 Probiotic (capsules) (http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=VS-2164) MultiAcidophilus with FOS – 4 billion active cells, non-dairy products (Natural Factors) (http://www.luckyvitamin.com/068958018409.html) Sedona Labs, IFLOR Multi-Probiotic Powder (= http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid 7408 & AT = 0) Garden of Life Primal Defense (http://www.garden-of-life.biz/primal-defense.php) Probiotics can help with digestion. They can be useful when it comes to gas and loose stools. For my new vet, probiotics are a good something to add to any diet cat. She recommends using them only 2-3 times a week rather than daily, and not necessarily in the recommended (Meaning less not more). When you start using them, you simply add a pinch of food, then gradually increase if the cat is it tolerate without side effects smelly. Dosage: I do not measure it, but I guess I add about 1 / 4 c. tea. I provide these three days a week. My vet also suggested varying the brands from time to time. As you finish a bottle, try another. How to choose: My vet also suggested not to use one made for the man because he can not be the right kind of bacteria. Avoid Saccharomyces boulardii which is the yeast. It is dairy free, contain more than one type of bacteria, have a large number of organisms and additives years. The first two listed above are ones I have chosen to use. They were recommended by users over Cat Health. Both Others have also been suggested by users of this group, but not as strongly.
