Activia is actually better than any regular yogurt bacteria?
I've been doing a little research on yogurt cultures to find out how enjoy the natural flora of the intestines, because my husband has suffered from c. difficile twice in the last three months. So what I wonder is – Activia is really all that much better for restoring the natural flora normal yogurt? What kind of amounts of probiotics are in a particular quantity (eg 8 oz) of normal vs. Activia yogurt? How to compare these capsules of probiotics? How much yogurt you have to eat to recover completely eradicated a colony of good bacteria in one of instestines (as a result of using Flagyl)?
There are many different probiotic cultures and not all are in all yogurts. So to get the best result of going sugar-free yogurt that has at least 3 strains of culture in it, I like Nancy's brand, because it's tart but not too tart, and always puts me right after a course of antibiotics. You can tell if the cultures are active because they have eaten all the sugar fermented milk and yogurt with a sour taste as well as stays in the fridge will be more tart yogurt, it's still fermenting. If it does, then is living the yogurt and help. Of course, when it starts to smell like wet socks, then it's gone bad. : P if you have not eaten it all by then! It may be an adjustment to tastes, which generally have been offered fresh yoghurt pudding, but if the yogurt is too sour add a little maple syrup just before eating, or better still a little honey (natural antibacterial) or molassses (full of vitamins) to sweeten it.
